Most roads in the area are pretty twisty. All of
them go through beautiful countryside. |

The Atlantic Coast (Biscarosse Plages - 2 hours
30 mins drive) |
You can hire all the gear you need in Biscarosse
Plages and there are some good campsites too (though the town itself is
pretty awful). We strongly suggest you go midweek in
high season. Good surfing featuring the Atlantic fetch. Try

for up to the minute surf reports or search google
for a forecast. Also the home of the astonishing Dune de Pilat. |

Les Eyzies de Tayac (2 hours 30 mins drive) |
Terrible tourist trap - BUT - has some amazing
cave paintings (though you may need to book a month ahead to see the real ones) and
stalactites. You can also canoe on the Vezere. |

Local towns alternate on different days of the
week. |
You'll have to get up in the mornings to
experience these as they've usually packed up by midday ! Good for all
your food shopping and more. |

Even the very best aren't that expensive
compared to the UK. |
